Derek Henderlong, L.Ac., M.Ac.O.M

Derek, Acupuncturist and Herbalist, studied Classical Chinese Medicine and received his Masters degree in Oriental Medicine at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon in 2016. He received his BA in Psychology with high honors from The University of Michigan in 1999.  He is licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners.

Derek trained directly with Dr. Heiner Fruehauf ( Classical Pearls Herbal Lineage & Tendon Stretching and Strengthening Qi Gong), Brandt Stickley (Shen/Hammer lineage), Bob Quinn (Japanese Meridian Lineage), and Brad Whisnant (Master Tung Lineage). He places great value in the awareness and understanding he has gleaned from all his teachers and delights when those teachings emerge in the treatment room. His flexible set of tools suits most individuals.  Derek follows the methods described in the Huang Di Nei Jing (Discourse Yin/Yang, Physiology, Acupuncture, Diagnostics) and Shan Han Lun (Original Herbal Recipe Cannon) and feels great support from these ancient authors in offering time-tested, effective medicine to assist in the restoration of health.

Personally, Derek may be spotted with a “Duzer” of a cat and a woolen cap, surrounding himself in the lore of golf; wide-eyed for those movements that inform health.
